Why I Serve

Growing up in Oakland, California, I saw firsthand the challenges that can arise from limited access to resources, the stigma surrounding reaching out for support, and the fear of being judged or misunderstood. I wanted to create a space where people would not have to explain or defend who they are before being welcomed. A space where they could receive a smile, feel cared for, experience a sense of community, and know that the people around them genuinely have their well-being in mind. That vision continues to influence the programs and experiences we create through Authentic Peace.

I continue to serve because I have a deep passion for and commitment to my community. I believe in the power of what can happen when we come together, support one another, and create opportunities that might not otherwise be available. Authentic Peace gives me a way to offer some of what I wish had been available to me, while creating a space where people can feel connected, show up authentically, and know they are being met with that same authenticity in return.
